Beverlee Burke has been practicing yoga since 1993 and teaching it since 2000. Her practice has guided and supported her through numerous life transitions large and small, most recently her move to Illinois from California. Beverlee teaches to share yoga’s benefits, such as physical well-being and mental and emotional clarity. She specializes in therapeutic and adaptive yoga. Among her teachers are such leaders in the community as Sarah Powers, Paul Grilley, Judith Hanson Lasater, Tias Little and Donna Farhi.
Beverlee’s teaching style has been described as “kindness and compassion embodied.” Her classes weave together her extensive training and experience in Iyengar, viniyoga, restorative and yin yoga, as well as drawing on other somatic studies such as Body-Mind Centering and Feldenkrais, to craft sequences that balance movement with breath and lead students to experience confidence and joy in their bodies.
Beverlee is an exhibiting artist (collage, painting, book arts) and an avid reader. She loves to be in nature with her dog (who often would rather be home on the couch) and wants to learn about gardening.
