Quinn C, Chandler C, Moraska A. Massage therapy and frequency of chronic tension headaches. Am J Public Health. 2002; 92(10): 1657-1661.
The effect of massage therapy on chronic tension headaches was investigated in this study. Massage techniques including myofascial release, trigger point release, soft tissue mobilization and muscle energy techniques were used. Results suggest massage therapy is effective at reducing the number of headaches per week as well as duration of headaches in chronic tension headache sufferers. No significant change in headache intensity was found.
