Castro-Sanchez AM, Mataran-Penarrocha GA, et al. A randomized controlled trial investigating the effects of craniosacral therapy on pain and heart rate variability in fibromyalgia patients. Clin Rehabil. 2011; 25: 25-35.
The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of craniosacral therapy on pain in patients with fibromyalgia. This study included 92 individuals with fibromyalgia who were split into an intervention group and placebo group. Results demonstrate a significant reduction in tender points in patients with fibromyalgia after 20 weeks of craniosacral therapy treatment. More significant improvements in pain were found when craniosacral therapy was combined with aerobic exercise and relaxation training.
