Posture: The Key to a Strong Core

Thursday, Nov. 8 | 6:00-7:00 PM | FREE

Our second installment of the Core Series is coming up on November 8th at 6 pm. In the first session we learned how to use our diaphragm to “turn on” our core muscles when we breathe.  Now we want to show you another way to turn on those muscles–by changing your posture! (Don’t worry if you couldn’t make the first event. While each evening in our Core Connections series helps build on the last, they’re all fine to attend on their own, too).

Maybe changing your posture sounds like a huge feat. Maybe you’ve stood a certain way your whole life. You always find yourself slumping when you sit. You know your posture isn’t great as you’re scrolling through your smart phone. However, rather than try to overhaul everything overnight, there are a lot of little things we can do to improve our posture every day and engage the core muscles at the foundation of our posture. These little things can make a big difference.

This will be a really fun and interactive night.  We will demonstrate certain postures, even teach you how to analyze your own posture. We’ll keep it simple, showing you how alignment can make a difference with what muscles you are using to support you.  Our goal is for you to feel like you have much more knowledge on how you can position your body throughout the day to maximize using your core!  There are often days we don’t have time to exercise; however if we can be more mindful of our posture throughout the day, we can learn how to exercise our core.

Sam Eakes, DPT, presents this evening. All the events in our Core Concepts series are free and open to the public!
