Owner and PT Lynn Batalden has been very involved with DeKalb’s Active Transportation committee, a group of volunteers working to encourage healthy alternatives like bicycling through enhanced connectivity of trails and safe bike lanes, education, and other infrastructure improvements. Over the years, this group has added new lanes and trails, improved existing ones, and ensured that this type of connectivity is part of any planning going forward.
Lynn walks the walk (rides the ride?) as she enjoys commuting to work via the bike trails, weather permitting.
Thanks to their efforts, we are proud to announce that the City of DeKalb has been recognized by the League of American Bicyclists with a Bronze Bicycle Friendly Community Status. DeKalb was part of the largest application round in the BFC program’s 13 year history. In total, 140 communities applied for recognition, a 62 percent increase from the previous largest round of applicants.
This award not only incentivizes the community to continue making improvements, it also serves as an attractor to people who choose to build homes and businesses in the area. Congratulations to Lynn, Live Healthy DeKalb County and the great group of people behind the Active Transportation Committee!
