Hold the Light: Music, Motherhood and Hope

Saturday, Nov. 2 | 7:00 PM | Free Concert

The heart of the Hold the Light concert is to declare that there is hope in motherhood, especially into the dark places that are harder to share. The show features music and poetry by local artists Jen Miller, Ruth O’Donnell, and Kim Wheaton.

Jen is a local mama, musician, PPDA survivor, and teacher. Her passion is to hold the light of hope and connection through stories and songs. Her first full-length album, Brave is One More Step in the Dark, features several local artists and has been donated to local hospitals, NICU’s, and postpartum support groups. You can find more of her music at jenmillermusiccollective.com.

Ruth is a mother, writer, and teacher who lives in Sycamore with her husband Nathaniel, daughter Alice, and sons Walter and Erik. She loves being outdoors with her family, reading and baking. Her first book, For Those I Love, a book of essays and poems, came out last December.

Kim is a local birth doula, artist, and mom to Lucy and Auggie. She is passionate about helping women to have positive birth experiences and supporting them during the postpartum period. On the side, she is a singer-songwriter and fiber artist.

Women need women. And we all need a little bit of Ruth, Kim and Jen in our lives! Because there’s power in story and sharing, don’t miss a chance to hear these three. They’re funny, honest and vulnerable. And worth a night out!”   ~Attendee from last year’s show
