Creative in the Community

You never know who you might run into at a Bears game! The Family Service Agency of DeKalb was kind enough to provide preseason opening game tickets for Mark and his youth mentee through the agency. They were having a good time eating pizza and watching the game when they ran into Cindy‘s family!

Mark also worked for Boy Scout Troop 32 during Cornfest weekend, parking cars for visitors to the Fest to raise funds for the troop (big thank you to Delano’s Home Decorating for their support and the use of their lot)! Aside from the fundraising he also worked up an impressive sunburn.

Mark will be representing Creative Therapeutics at NIU’s Campus Meets Community Block Party on Thursday, Sept. 5. If you happen to be on campus, stop by the King Commons and say hello! There will be a lot of local vendors out, including food. Go Huskies!

Mike demonstrating a side plank at our core exercises workshop earlier this year.

Mike Reuland, DPT, CSCS is visiting the FSA’s Club 55 on Tuesday, Sept. 3 for their “Matter of Balance” series to teach people about balance. While kids, naturally, do a lot to exercise their sense of balance (riding bikes, skating, playing, etc.), as adults we tend to fall out of practice. Mike is going to talk about some simple exercises to strengthen balance and avoid injury.

Mike will also be at Sycamore CrossFit on Saturday, Sept. 7 to meet with their coaches to discuss functional movement screens with an emphasis on the shoulder. It’s great to have like-minded fitness professionals in our area who care about the safety and well-being of their clientele.

A few of us plan to participate in Lehan Drugs’s annual Daisy Dash on Sunday, Oct. 6 at 9:00 AM. If we can get a few more people to join our team we can enter at the discounted rate and raise more money for the SCARF program. So please let us know if you’d like to join the team! It’s a 5K Run/Walk, so you don’t have to feel the need to get in shape if you don’t want to–just walk with us!
