Healing touch was developed in the 1980s by a nurse who was talented in using energetic principles and touch for healing. I wanted to offer this class here because I see how many people are taking care of their loved ones and what a toll it can take on a person. I want people to feel that there is something they can do for themselves and the person they take care of that is simple, doesn’t tax your body, and makes you both feel more renewed. Healing touch is accredited for healthcare professionals , offering continuing education credit toward our license. This gives the program consistency and accountability for what it teaches. However, it is something appropriate for anyone caring for a loved one.
–Lynn Batalden, PT and Owner, Creative Therapeutics
Whether we are caring for a loved one or working as a health care professional, taking care of others takes a toll on our physical and mental well-being. Learning how to interact positively with those in our care while maintaining our own well-being is a skill–a balancing act that requires conscious effort and action. Stress management is one of the many benefits of Healing Touch. In this workshop we will:
- Identify the symptoms of caregiver burnout
- Discuss the causes of this debilitating condition
- Learn and practice specific techniques that will help alleviate and prevent caregiver burnout
