What’s New–Yoga Edition

Prenatal Yoga | Saturday, Sept. 8 | 8:00-9:15 AM

We’re so excited to offer another great resource for expecting moms here at CT! Prenatal Yoga is appropriate for any stage of pregnancy.  No previous yoga experience is necessary.  Prenatal yoga will help you build strength and balance, increase flexibility, relieve stress, and prepare you physically and mentally for labor and childbirth.  Prenatal yoga can relieve some pregnancy related symptoms while fostering serenity and a unifying sense of well-being. We have all the mats and props, but feel free to bring your own if you prefer.

Please share this! We hope to make this a regular Saturday morning class, so if you’re interested, call us at 815-758-5508 and let us know!

Pilates for Life | beginning Sept. 19 | Wednesdays, 7:00-8:00 PM

No, it’s not yoga–but Pilates has a few things in common with yoga: both stress the importance of breath to movement; both are exercises you can do throughout your entire life. Still, of course there are differences, but as this article points out, yoga and pilates make great complements to each other: why limit yourself? (This class is also a great complement to our other core strengthening class, Pelvicore!) Instructor Barbara Baie has a passion for helping people get moving no matter what their level of ability, and we’re excited to introduce this as a regular Wednesday offering starting Sept. 19!

Fall Restorative Yoga Workshop | Friday, Sept. 28 | 6:00-8:00 PM

It’s time for our incredibly relaxing and rejuvenating yoga workshop–the perfect start to any weekend, and an excellent way to greet the new season! Lie comfortably, supported by cushions and blankets as you are guided through long, restful poses that gently allow joints to open, releasing tension and filling with fresh energy!

Instructor: Beverlee Burke, RYT

And speaking of Beverlee, she is first on the waiting list to attend the Iyengar Yoga Association of the Midwest (IYAMW) Retreat later this month. Beverlee’s practice is informed by a wealth of experience rooted in her training in Iyengar Yoga, a form of Hatha yoga that emphasizes  anatomical precision and alignment. We’re proud that our yoga instructors take opportunities to learn, explore and deepen their own practice, because they bring that to their own students. Wish Beverlee luck!

New Days & Time! Yoga Nidra | Friday, Sept. 21 | 5:30-6:30 PM

Amy Prais, yoga, physical therapy, dekalb, IL

Yoga Ropes Class | Thursday, Oct. 18 | 6:00-7:30 PM

“When are you guys doing a ropes class, again?” Finally, we answer! Try yoga on our unique rope wall! Ropes not only supplement “regular” yoga poses (asanas), they also prompt new ones! These ropes provide support and enhance balance, giving confidence and allowing you to really “lean into” a pose safely. Plus–it’s just fun!

Our nylon ropes are supple and soft to the touch, but some may prefer to bring biking or workout gloves for extra support.
