Research shows keeping pelvic floor muscles strong in men is important for maintaining erectile function and avoiding bladder or bowel leakage.

Dorey G. Restoring pelvic floor function in men: Review of RCTs. Brit J Nursing 2005; 14(19): 1014-1021.

This article reviewed a literature search of randomized controlled trials that found strengthening pelvic floor muscles was shown to significantly improve post-prostatectomy urinary continence and erectile function. It is important for men to perform pelvic floor muscle exercises in order to maintain normal pelvic floor function since these muscles increase local blood supply, are active during sexual intercourse and prevent urinary and fecal incontinence.
