Creative Bone Builders
Do you want to begin an exercise program but are unsure of a safe and effective way to start? If you have osteoporosis or are at risk for developing osteoporosis you may benefit from participating in our six week Creative Bone Builders class. Though the class has been developed with osteoporosis in mind, it is appropriate and beneficial for individuals who are interested in beginning a safe, low impact exercise program.
Through the use of small hand held weights, exercise bands, and a physioroller you will participate in an education and exercise class. All equipment needed to participate will be provided to you.
In the class you will learn:
- Basic understanding of osteoporosis disease process
- Basic nutrition
- How to read food labels
- Safe ways to perform daily activities such as vacuuming and loading the dishwasher
- Exercises and stretches and how to incorporate this into an effective program to do at home
The final class will be held in conjunction with the current two day per week osteoporosis level II class. This will give participants in both classes a change to meet each other and allow for a smooth transition into the osteoporosis II class for those wishing to continue taking part in an exercise class after osteoporosis I has ended.

Creative Bone Builders Osteoporosis II Class
Creative Bone Builders is an Osteoporosis education and exercise class that addresses risk factors through practical information sharing and exercise to help you live a more healthy, happy lifestyle.
In this class, we place a strong emphasis on body mechanics used to carry out daily activities from unloading the dishwasher to getting in and out of a car. The gentle exercise portion of the class educates the participants in the correct way to stretch a muscle and not stress the joints. Much of the exercises are weight bearing activites. Hand held weights and elastic bands are used for resistance to arm and leg exercises. Physiorollers are also used in the class. Using the roll takes pressure off the spine while you exercise and work to reverse the "osteoporosis hump" gradually and safely. The roller teaches balance and improves strength in the trunk which is fundamental to preventing falls.
